Is a Tokyo Apartment Five Minutes from a Station Always Convenient?
Judge a Tokyo location from door to destination: station entrances, platforms, changes and the journey home matter more than one walking-time claim.
Written by Hive Heaven

A Tokyo apartment near a station is not automatically convenient for every itinerary. Compare the journey from your door to the place you actually want to reach. Five minutes to an entrance may still leave a platform walk, a change and another walk at the far end. Over a month, those everyday differences become noticeable.
Choose the route your days will use, not just the station name you recognise.

Where does the advertised walk finish?
Check which entrance the walking estimate uses and how it relates to the building. Luggage or rain may change your experience. The nearest entrance might not be the one with the access facilities you need. Rather than treating the headline as your complete journey, map the route you would actually take from the accommodation to the appropriate platform.
Is a direct train always the best choice?
A no-change journey can be convenient, but it does not describe the whole trip. Choose three places you expect to visit frequently and search at the relevant times. Include platform movement and the final walk. A commute, a sightseeing afternoon and a late return can favour different locations. Give repeated journeys more weight than a single ambitious day out.

How does Kinshicho fit into that comparison?
Kinshicho is on the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line, with Oshiage as the next station in that direction. That is useful when planning the Skytree area, but a station-to-station journey is not the same as reaching an attraction’s entrance. Check both the walk from the specific HIVEN unit and the onward walk. The question is whether it fits your programme, not whether it is close to everything.

When should you plan the trip home?
Check return routes while planning the evenings that matter to you. Last practical connections depend on the route and date, so do not rely on one general last-train time. If a taxi is your fallback, understand the distance and cost implications. The right base is an address that works at both ends of your day, not necessarily the most familiar station on the map.
