A Lazy Afternoon Walk, Then Coffee
A slow walk from Kinshicho toward Tokyo Skytree, with a quiet park and three cafés to choose from along the way. One afternoon, one coffee, and nowhere to rush to.

When you stay in Tokyo for a month, the way you get somewhere can become more memorable than the destination itself. Today’s destination is Tokyo Skytree. From HIVEN stay & residence BK Kinshicho, getting there quickly would be easy. But on a slow afternoon, there is no reason to save time. Put on comfortable shoes, leave the train for another day, and step outside. The neighborhood gradually opens toward Oyokogawa Shinsui Park. Water, trees, local streets, and the distant outline of Skytree begin to share the same view. With every few blocks, the tower becomes a little larger. This is the kind of walk where you can actually see yourself getting closer.
2 PM, With No Need to Hurry
A month in Tokyo comes with a different kind of freedom. There is no checklist to complete this afternoon. You can stop at a street that looks interesting, look through the fruit outside a neighborhood supermarket, or wait at a crossing while watching the tower in the distance. Near the park, the sound of traffic begins to soften. There are people resting on benches, local residents following their usual routes, and afternoon light moving slowly between the trees. Skytree is still ahead. But the best part of the day may have already begun.

“The luxury of staying for a month is not having to choose the fastest way there.”
Three Cafés, Three Ways to Pause
There is no single right place to stop for coffee on the way to Tokyo Skytree. Some afternoons call for a small neighborhood café. Others need a long table, an open room, and nowhere to be. And sometimes, you want to save the coffee until the tower is almost directly above you. Along this walk, three cafés offer three different ways to pause. Choose one for today. Save the others for another afternoon.
01. For a Local Beginning: SUMIDA COFFEE
Choose SUMIDA COFFEE when you want the afternoon to begin with something local. Close to the Kinshicho side of the walk, this small neighborhood coffee house feels connected to the craft traditions of Sumida. The café roasts its own specialty coffee and is known for serving it in original Edo Kiriko cut-glass cups. It turns an everyday coffee break into something quietly specific to the neighborhood. Sit for a while, have coffee with something sweet, and let the afternoon begin before the tower becomes the main view. This is the café for a day when you want to start slowly.

02. For a Long, Lazy Pause: SASAYA CAFE
Choose SASAYA CAFE when you want the coffee break to become part of the afternoon itself. Set beside Oyokogawa Shinsui Park, it is a natural place to slow down in the middle of the walk. The café’s concept is vegan and all natural, with plant-based food and sweets alongside coffee and tea. This is the choice for an afternoon when you want to sit a little longer. Read a few pages. Talk without checking the time. Or simply watch the light change before walking again. Skytree can wait.

03. For Coffee Near the Tower: UNLIMITED COFFEE BAR
Choose UNLIMITED COFFEE BAR when you want to save the coffee for the final part of the walk. By this point, Tokyo Skytree is no longer a distant landmark. It rises above the neighborhood, appearing between buildings as you approach Narihira. UNLIMITED COFFEE BAR is a specialty coffee destination close to the tower, making it a natural final pause before arriving in Oshiage. This is the choice for people who care as much about the coffee itself as the atmosphere around it. Order a cup. Watch the barista work. Then step outside and look up.

After Coffee, the Tower Feels Closer
Whichever café you choose, step outside and begin walking again. Skytree is much closer now. At the beginning of the afternoon, it looked like part of the city skyline. Now it fills the spaces between buildings, and sometimes you have to tilt your head all the way back to find the top. Even the final stretch does not need to be rushed. Stop whenever the tower appears from a new angle. Look up from a narrow street. Wait for the light to change. By the time you arrive, Tokyo Skytree feels less like a tourist attraction you came to see and more like the natural end of a walk that started at home.

Take the train home, or walk back the same way. What matters is not simply that you saw Tokyo Skytree. It is remembering where you slowed down on the way there. Staying in Tokyo for a month may be about collecting small routes like this one: not famous places to check off, but streets you would choose to walk again. Today, choose one café. The others can wait for another afternoon. Tomorrow, the city can lead somewhere else.
